THE DOMAINE OF ASPIRAN DE RAVANES
The origins of this domaine go back to a period before the Romans were settled in the Narbonne area.
A water spring known as the "roman wells" would suggest the presence of man since prehistoric times: near this source of water have been found sharpened silex, arrow heads and various tools.
In the wall of the very ancient chapel Saint-Romain d'Aspiran Ravanes, is embedded a fragment of a christian tomb which looks to belong to the Arles school of sculpture from the IV or V century BC.
The appearance of Jesus before Pilate and the healing of the blind and the bleeding are represented.
The 14th of october 1226, Pons de Thézan and Pierre de Corneilhan pledged allgiance to the king, in front of the Bishop of Béziers, in the chapel of Aspiran Ravanes near to the domaine.
